- Expungements: An expungement may be available to clear a conviction if the conviction was in juvenile court for a “youthful indiscretion” such as underage drinking. Otherwise, expungements cannot be used to clear convictions unless the applicant is over 70 years old and has not been convicted of a crime in the past 15 years. Expungements are used to clear arrests from a criminal record. Without filing an official expungement request, law enforcement and potential employers can view your arrest record.
